About Me

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Alicia – a wife and a mother of two busy teenage girls. Currently, I am juggling a full-time job, a house remodeling project, and college classes to advance my career.
Despite my best intentions, I have always found an excuse to avoid regular exercise, leading to fluctuations in my weight from somewhat healthy to significantly overweight.
Taking a toll on my mental health and sometimes straining my relationships with others, including my husband, is my lack of confidence in my appearance. I used to think that if I didn’t find myself attractive, my husband must not find me attractive either. However, I am now working on taking time for myself so that I can be in a better position to support and be there for others.
A few years back, I participated in a half marathon, and during my training, I managed to reach a point where I was happy with my progress. Sadly, I didn’t maintain that level of fitness and let myself go.
This was when my life got busier than ever. We bought the house we are currently remodeling, and added various activities to our kids’ schedules. I stopped training to be there for my family but forgot about me.
When I began running about ten years ago, I set a personal goal to complete a full marathon by the time I turned 40. Well, that milestone is finally here, and I’m now working hard to get back into shape to tackle 26.2 miles.
I began my training in July 2023 and have made great progress. I have successfully shed 35 pounds and now weigh 180 pounds, which is my lowest weight in a long time. I have also improved my running endurance from 3 miles to 6 miles. I am confident that I will reach my fitness goal by summer.
My ultimate goal is to weigh 155 pounds and be able to run 8 miles daily. Although weight loss is a measurable factor, my primary aim is to maintain good health and physical fitness.
I am worried about the impact of my unhealthy habits on my overall health. Most of my family members who are overweight have diabetes and high blood pressure, and they may have other health issues that I am not even aware of. I want to be healthy and enjoy my time with my family and the best things in life. I have decided to commit to myself and stop going back and forth. I am using this blog as a way to hold myself accountable and to help others stay accountable as well.
Join me on my journey as a busy mother trying to finally get organized and become the person I’ve always aspired to be.
